i cut my finger with a kitchen knife looks like below

the chunck on the side of the finger that i cut is like half detached not hanging but about 3/4 not attached

its stopped bleeding (beld for like 10 mins)

should/ could i go to hospital or docotr to get glued or stiched or do anything to it at home?

and will the side heal and reattach or will it rot off and i will be missing a chunck for ever or will it grow back after rotting off? thnks heaps!

You'll be fine. Just keep a dry sterile dressing on it and every day soak it in half peroxide and water to keep it clean for five minutes. The wound will heal itself and regenerate. I work in an orthopaedic office and the hand surgeon in our office lets them heal in. Sometimes we get these "Allen three" injuries and they do fine with whirlpool and dressing changes as long as the bone isn't exposed he doesn't do anything but dressing changes. You might want to put a non-adhearing dressing on like Telfa over the wound so it doesn't stick.

If you can get Polymem bandaids that would be better because you don't even have to soak it but change the bandaid when the Polymem becomes seventy five percent saturated. You can get them at a hospital supply store and they cost about three dollars a bandaid, for a 1"x3" size. You might need about three of them.

read with interest some of the comments made if you think it's real bad what would you do?

you have 7 lays of skin 3 layers of myofacia then intringent musscles then bone

if you felt the bone with the knife then hospital/local doctor

other wise two things pack in ice 20mins/30mins till completely numb wrap it up in a peha-crepp bandage from knuckle to end of finger and back to knuckle

ice every twenty minutes for 24hrs less sleep time finger will throb dont worry it's healing it's self

next day 20mins ice 5mins hot water hot as you can stand ice stops bleeding/hot water gets the blood running third day just heat you will be fine

If it looks deep and you can see alot of flesh then i would suggest going to the hospital.

if not put some disinfectant like betadine or something on it to keep it from becoming infected and rap it up for a day and then let it dry out.

I would apply some ice to it and if it really is gaping then get to the Dr.so they can stitch it up for you.
