Question:
Is a concussion enough to miss a math midterm?

So I was playing in club volleyball tournament about 2 days and hit my head on my teammates knee while diving for the ball. I did NOT pass out so I didn't for one second think I was concussed (which is what i thought was grounds for a 'concussion'). I was however pretty dizzy but just ended up finishing the match (it was the last of the day).

Driving back I did notice a big headache but just thought it was because of dehydration from playing all day. Since then, the last 2 days I've had killer headaches all day and have been basically living off advil. My pupils aren't dilated (I'm not sure if they were right after I hit my head) but I have been VERY fatigued (like sleeping 12+ hrs and still wanting to nap) and rather dizzy still

I did some research and I'm thinking im concussed? Or most likely a *mild concussion?? (I plan to go to the clinic tmrw morning)

More importantly-- I'm gettin super stressed because I have a math midterm (im in college) tmrw night and I haven't been able to study effectively (stay focused on the material or concentrate for a long time)

SO is a concussion enough of an excuse to miss a math midterm???

I'm scared that the nurse will just say I'm fine and I end up missing a math midterm without a good reason..
and fail.

I hope your dr. visit went well. You are dealing with a concussion. Protect your head, do what the dr. tells you to do. If you don't follow the instructions and get better not only will you not be taking your mid-term, but you might be screwing up your future too. A head injury is nothing to take lightly. I suffered one 5 years ago and I still deal with issues and I was never able to return to work. I didn't pass out. I went to the ER and had the tests etc. I was told I was fine and that I had suffered a fall. 2 days later every thing went to heck in a hand basket. I had to relearn how to get dressed. I found out later on that during the 2 days I felt fine that brain cells were being killed due to swelling on my brain.

Statistically 96 or 98% of people are symptom free in 6 months. Of that group most get better in month 1, and of that group most get better in week 1. And younger people get better much faster than older people. So you have your age going for you in your corner.

Good luck and wishes for a speedy recovery.

Your future is more important that what your professor thinks about your mid-term. And I know how difficult it is to focus and think when dealing with it. I lost most of my math skills. It took me over a week to get that 8+5=13. So work on getting you well!

that's interior the incorrect area, yet given the indications you have defined, you're completely justified in lacking the valid math midterm and take a retake. by potential of no potential is passing out and/or fainting grounds for a concussion. in basic terms getting bonked on the top by potential of a basketball is sufficient to reason a concussion. straight forward dehydration won't reason problems and/or migraines, they are going to reason lethargy, i.e. you would be much less lively. student dilation will purely ensue in severe circumstances, whether that's nevertheless a undemanding try by using fact that's somewhat basic to grant and word.

I would say a concussion is a perfectly reasonable excuse, but in case the nurse says no, you may want to be prepared. You could also try emailing your teacher and explaining the situation to him/her. Most professors have feelings and will allow you a makeup exam.

if ur fine in the morning i wouldnt go to the doctors.. it could just be a headache, the tiredness could just be from working out and most teachers dont let you make up exams if you miss.. atleast at my school

If you have a doctors note...it's a fine excuse.
